TransGrid Publishes Final Report: Addressing Emerging Constraints on QNI
15 February 2007
The thermal rating of the 965 Armidale ? Kempsey 132 kV line can limit southward flows on QNI. Due to load growth on the North Coast of NSW the incidence of these constraints is expected to increase over coming summers.
TransGrid is proposing the construction of a new large transmission network asset to relieve this limitation and has published a final report in accordance with clause 5.6.6(h) of the National Electricity Rules.
The proposal is to install a phase shifting transformer at Armidale to control flows on the 965 Armidale ? Kempsey 132 kV line. The cost of these works is $13 million (+/-25%). They are currently envisaged to be completed by summer 2008/09.
