TransGrid Publishes Final Report: Beaconsfield West 3rd Transformer (01 February 2008)

Beaconsfield West 330/132 kV substation is one of a number of 500 kV and 330 kV substations that individually provide supply to nearby suburban areas in Sydney and collectively provide supply to the Sydney CBD and surrounding suburbs.

TransGrid is proposing the construction of a new large transmission network asset to increase the transformer capacity at Beaconsfield West and has published a final report in accordance with clause 5.6.6(h) of the National Electricity Rules. The proposal is for the installation of a third 330/132 kV 375?MVA transformer at Beaconsfield West on land adjacent to the existing substation. The cost of these works is $15 Million and they are envisaged to be completed by summer 2009/10.
