Maintaining around 12,656 kilometres of high voltage transmission line and underground cables is a difficult task that requires expertise and world class skills.
Most of our transmission lines cross private property, which TransGrid requires access to so our staff can conduct routine maintenance both on and around the transmission lines.
For this reason, we establish easements below and on either side of the lines to make sure our staff and contractors can access the area for routine line inspections and repairs, and in the case of an emergency.
