MR CHUM DARVALL

Director and Chairman

 

Chum was appointed as Chairman of TransGrid on 16 January 2012. Chum is also non-executive Vice Chairman of Deutsche Bank. Previously, he was Chief Executive Officer Deutsche Bank Australia and New Zealand from July 2002 to March 2011. Prior to this he worked in a variety of roles across the banking industry including Director Treasury and Head of Global Markets at Deutsche Bank and positions in the financial markets division of Westpac. Chum brings to the Board a wealth of experience across the banking and finance industry.
 
Chum’s current Board memberships include Wilson HTM, the Financial Markets Foundation for Children, Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute (VCCRI), Macquarie University Council and Major Performing Arts Board of the Australia Council.
 

MR NEVILE BETTS
Director


Mr Neville Betts was appointed to the TransGrid Board on 30 June 1998.

Neville is currently the Assistant Secretary of the Electrical Trades Union of Australia NSW branch and has been a Union Official since 1984. He is also a member of the Divisional Council Power Industry Committee, Deputy Chairman of the ACT Utilities and Light Manufacturer Industry Training Advisory Board (ITAB), a member of the National Training Advisory Group (NTAG) for the Electrical Transmission and Distribution Industry, Vice President of UnionsACT and a member of the ACT Labor Council Executive, and former member of the ACT Government Industrial Relations Advisory Committee. Neville is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Graduate of the Mount Eliza Business School.

Neville’s in-depth understanding of the electricity industry, and its associated industrial relations, training and union activities, is an invaluable resource of the board.


THE HON. JOHN PRICE AM,

Director


The Hon. John Price AM was appointed to the TransGrid Board on 5 February 2008.

Before his appointment to the board, John began his career at the State Dockyard leaving in 1982 as Assistant General Manager and Engineering Manager to take up a consulting role. In 1984, he was elected to the NSW Legislative Assembly, firstly as the Member for Waratah, and in 1999, as the Member for Maitland, retiring in 2007 as Deputy Speaker. John’s previous directorships include Newcastle FM Pty Ltd and 2HD Broadcasters Pty Ltd. He served as chairman of both companies from 1997 to 1999. John is also a member of the Council of the University of Newcastle and Chair of Hunter Uni-Clinics Proprietary Limited.

John brings a wealth of knowledge from his long career in politics, along with a strong commercial and administrative background to our board.


MR MICHAEL NUGENT

Director

 

Mr Michael Nugent was appointed to the TransGrid Board in August 2008 and is also currently a Director of LiveCorp which provides services to the live animal export sector.

Michael was previously a Non-Executive Director of Eraring Energy, Rail Access Corporation and Snowy Mountains Engineering Corporation in the energy and infrastructure sector. Michael has also held positions as the Chief Executive and an Executive Director of Goodman Fielder Limited (1990-1994),the Managing Director of Elders Agribusiness and an Executive Eirector of its parent company Fosters Brewing Group Limited (1983-1990). He also held a number of general management, marketing and financial positions in the food, transport and vehicle industries with Henry Jones IXL Limited, Brambles, Ansett and the British Leyland Motor Corporation (1965-1982) respectively. Early in his career he worked for Peat Marwick now KPMG (1961-1965) before completing his professional accounting training in 1968 and is currently an FCPA.

Michael brings a broad range of skills and experience in management, strategy, governance, marketing and finance to the board. He also has experience in infrastructure and the execution of large capital projects across a variety of industries.


MR PETER McINTYRE

Executive Director and Managing Director


Mr Peter McIntyre was appointed as an Executive Director on the TransGrid Board on the 27 April 2010.

As Managing Director of TransGrid, Peter is responsible for the development, operation and maintenance of the NSW bulk electricity transmission network.
 
Before his appointment as Managing Director, Peter held three executive positions with TransGrid including General Manager/System Operations, General Manager/Network Performance and Development and General Manager/Network Development and Regulatory Affairs.

 

Peter is Chairman of TransGrid’s Executive Occupational Health and Safety Committee and Executive Environment Committee. Peter represents TransGrid on a number of external industry related committees. He is Deputy Chairman of the Australian Power Institute and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia.

 

Peter is also a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

 

Peter brings over 25 years experience in the transmission business, with particular expertise in policy development, asset management and regulatory strategy to our board.


MR TREVOR DANOS
LLB, BEc
Director

 

Mr Trevor Danos is a lawyer and currently a partner at Corrs Chambers Westgarth law firm. During his career, Trevor has specialised in domestic and international corporate finance.

Trevor brings to the board an acute understanding of industry needs, expectations and limitations having acted for a number of prominent domestic and overseas institutions as well as a number of Commonwealth and State Government authorities.

Trevor is a Trustee of the Cure for Life Foundation (Australia's largest brain cancer research charity) and brings to the board his passion for understanding science as the President of the Science Foundation for Physics.

 

MS CLARE MANNION

Board Secretary


Ms Clare Mannion was appointed as Board Secretary in September 2008.

Clare has eight years of experience with TransGrid in a variety of administrative roles. Clare is a graduate of the Mount Eliza Business School and has also completed a Graduate Diploma in Applied Corporate Governance at Chartered Secretaries Australia.
