TransGrid will be hosting a number of information days next week as part of ongoing community consultation for its Far North NSW Project.
Executive General Manager at TransGrid, Mr Michael Gatt, said information days are being held during the Environmental Assessment exhibition period so interested community members can discuss the Environmental Assessment with TransGrid staff.
“The Environmental Assessment is a comprehensive report covering the environmental, social and economic aspects of the Project,” said Mr Gatt.
“Information days will provide community members with an opportunity to ask questions and view maps and other supporting materials associated with the Environmental Assessment,” he said.
“TransGrid is encouraging all interested members of the community to come along to the sessions, where members of the project team will be on hand to answer specific questions and provide additional information.”
The Report includes detailed analysis of the project need, geology, biodiversity, heritage and visual amenity, as well as the socio economic benefits of the Project.
“Feedback from the community in late 2009 informed TransGrid’s selection of the preferred corridor for the proposed transmission line,” said Mr Gatt.
Submissions on the Project must reach the Department of Planning & Infrastructure by close of business on Monday, 24 October 2011.
