115 students from Gloucester Public School, Stroud Road Public School and Bellimboppinni Public School have participated in TransGrid’s ‘BeSafeKidz’ electrical safety program over the last few days.

As part of the program, students from years three to six participated in a hands-on classroom lesson on electrical safety.

Stroud Public School Principal Carolyn Bowman said the BeSafeKidz presentation from TransGrid was very interesting and informative.

“It was a hands-on experience that the students would not have had before,” said Mrs Bowman.

“The presentation and visit to Stroud Substation has given the students a deeper understanding about electricity and how it works,” she said.

Bellimbopinni Public School Principal Paul Lynch said TransGrid’s BeSafeKidz program was very informative.

“The students really enjoyed it, they learnt a lot about the electricity network and how it works,” said Mr Lynch.

TransGrid Project Manager Mr Warick Schroder, hosted the BeSafeKidz session emphasising the importance of electrical safety in and around the home.

“The BeSafeKidz program is helping prevent electric shocks from equipment and power lines by making sure children are taught about electrical safety,” said Mr Schroder.

“During the session, students learnt to recognise electrical warning signs, the do’s and don’ts in an electrical emergency and about how to stay safe around high voltage electricity,” he said.
