At approximately 9.00am engineers on site at TransGrid’s substation at Dural began progressively restoring power to customers in Sydney’s north following a fault at a TransGrid substation at Dural at 5.00am.
By 9.30am all power was successfully restored to EnergyAustralia’s customers in the Hornsby, Pennant Hills and Berowra region.
More than 12 TransGrid engineers were on site shortly after the fault occurred and have been working hard to restore power to residences and businesses in the area throughout the morning.
As the electricity system is both complex and interconnected, it took the engineering crews several hours to determine the exact location of the fault, before isolating a section of the substation.
TransGrid will be conducting extensive testing and investigations over the coming days to determine the exact cause of the fault. A small fire was contained by TransGrid staff within the substation site, which is believed to have contributed to the fault.
TransGrid thanks the local community for their patience and would like to apologise for inconveniences caused to residents and businesses in the region as a result of the power interruption.
