TransGrid

Applications close this week for the 2011 intake of electrical apprentices at TransGrid, the NSW transmission network operator.

TransGrid, which owns and operates over 12,500 km of transmission lines across NSW and the ACT, is offering electrical fitter apprenticeships to men and women in Western Sydney, Wagga Wagga, Yass, Newcastle, Tamworth and Orange.

“The 2011 intake is an exciting opportunity for people who want world class training in electrical fitting, and a rewarding career in the energy sector,” said Mr Michael Gatt, TransGrid Executive General Manager.

“There is no better time to become an apprentice at TransGrid, as we undertake our largest ever capital works program,” said Mr Gatt.

“The electrical apprentices who join us in 2011 will help deliver a record $2.6 billion in upgrades and extensions to the NSW transmission network over a five year period,” he said.

“Our apprentices help to build and maintain our network delivering a reliable supply of electricity to millions of homes and business across NSW and the ACT.”

TransGrid’s comprehensive electrical apprenticeship program offers nationally recognised qualifications, competitive salaries and the ideal learning environment, while working with a dedicated team of industry professionals.

Apprentices will gain experience in the construction and maintenance of some of Australia’s largest electrical substations.
