As part of community consultation on the planned transmission line upgrade between Tomago and Stroud, TransGrid will be holding information sessions in Dungog, Clarence Town and Raymond Terrace next week.

“TransGrid is holding information sessions next week to get valuable feedback from the local community on the proposed project, answer questions and also to provide further information about the project to interested members of the public,” said Don Paton, Manager of Projects at TransGrid.

“The information sessions are an opportunity for members of the community to talk directly to TransGrid representatives about all aspects of the project, including the environmental studies which are due to commence early next year,” said Mr Paton.

TransGrid’s plans include the construction of 6km of new transmission lines between Tomago and Tarro, and the replacement of 65km of existing wood pole power line between Tarro and Stroud Road with a higher capacity concrete pole power line.

“Maximum demand in the Lower Mid-North Coast region is forecast to rise by as much as 35% over the next 10 years,” said Mr Paton.

“The new line will provide a more secure and efficient power supply to customers in the region. The new line will provide power to EnergyAustralia’s planned new substation at Brandy Hill, as well as the existing Country Energy Substation at Stroud Road,” he said.
