The TransGrid Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Peter McIntyre as Managing Director of TransGrid, effective 27th April 2010.
In announcing the appointment TransGrid Chairman Mr Foy said, “Peter was selected following an extensive recruitment process that resulted in TransGrid receiving a number of applications from a range of well qualified and excellent candidates”.
“Key factors in Peter’s selection were his extensive experience in the transmission business, his demonstrated capacity to lead TransGrid on strategic matters and his ongoing commitment to the continual improvement of TransGrid as a successful State Owned Corporation".
“The Board is delighted to have secured Peter for this important role. I congratulate Peter on his appointment and wish him all the best leading TransGrid into the future”, said Mr Foy.
Mr McIntyre has over 25 years of experience in the electricity transmission industry with TransGrid and its predecessors, with particular expertise in policy development, asset management and regulatory strategy.
“I am excited about the opportunities and very mindful of the challenges that the company must confront”, said Mr McIntyre.
“It is essential we maintain the high standards of service we have provided to the community over many years”, he said.
Mr McIntyre acknowledged the contribution of his predecessor Mr Kevin Murray noting the important roles Mr Murray has had during his 42 years of service and his commitment to the organisation.
“For TransGrid to develop and improve further we must retain and build upon our technical expertise, focus on commercial excellence and continue strengthening stakeholder and customer relationships".
“TransGrid has an efficient platform to be able to provide transmission services, however growth in the asset base and a challenging capital program mean we need to find more efficiencies in order to be recognised as one the worlds best transmission network operators".
