The Annual Planning Report comprises results from TransGrid’s annual transmission planning review, and fulfils an important obligation under the National Electricity Rules.
“TransGrid’s Annual Planning Report provides National Electricity Market participants and interested parties with information to better understand emerging constraints in the New South Wales transmission network”, said Mr Michael Gatt, Corporate General Manager at TransGrid.
Some of the key findings from the 2010 Report include:
- Demand projections in NSW that are higher than the previous years’ forecasts
- An overall increase in energy consumption primarily due to the improved economic outlook
- Proposed projects (for the 1-5 year planning horizon)
- Proposals for major upgrades (for the 5-10 year planning horizon)
- An indication of areas where TransGrid is likely to seek alternative proposals for non-network solutions.
The Report will be presented to interested parties at an annual public forum, scheduled to be held in Sydney during August 2010.
The Report is now available to view from TransGrid’s Network Planning website at: http://www.transgrid.com.au/network/np/
