At approximately 6.45am this morning complications were experienced by TransGrid engineers as they tried to progressively restore power to customers in the Hornsby, Pennant Hills and Berowra areas, following a fault at a TransGrid substation at Dural.
A small fire has been contained by TransGrid staff within the substation site. This fire is believed to have contributed to the fault.
Around 140 mega watts of electricity was interrupted, affecting approximately 50,000 EnergyAustralia customers in the region, including residents and businesses.
The fault has also affected traffic lights in the area. TransGrid is urging drivers in the region to exercise caution on the roads this morning.
TransGrid engineers are working on site and continuing with efforts to restore power to the area. As the electricity system is both complex and interconnected, this may
take several hours.
TransGrid thanks the local community for their patience and would like to apologise for inconveniences caused to residents and businesses in the region as a result of
the power interruption.
