TransGrid operates within the National Electricity Market and is bound by the National Electricity Rules. Within these rules, we are obliged to deliver a transmission system that meets the reliability standards specified under the National Electricity Rules and by the NSW jurisdiction, or as requested by our customers.
Our consultation documents provide the basis for TransGrid to liaise with National Electricity Market registered participants, the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) and other interested parties in identifying the most cost effective practical option for the development of electricity supply to a particular region of NSW.

For developments subject to the Regulatory Test
- An Application Notice which allows interested parties to make submissions on a proposed TransGrid network or non-network solution and provide feedback.
- A Final Report which includes a decision on the most cost effective feasible network or non-network solution.
For developments subject to the Regulatory Investment Test - Transmission

A Project Specification Consultation Report which allows interested parties to make submissions on TransGrid’s assessment of the need for an investment, the feasible options identified, to proposed non-network options and to provide feedback.

A Project Assessment Draft Report which allows interested parties to make submissions on a proposed TransGrid network or non-network solution and provide feedback.

A Project Assessment Conclusions Report which includes a decision on the most cost effective feasible network or non-network solution.
