The NSW transmission network has been planned and developed by TransGrid and its predecessor organisations for over 50 years.
As population growth has continued to drive up electricity demand, we have continued to show the effectiveness of our forward planning. Our planning is carried out over a short time frame from 1-5 years and also over a longer term period from 5-20 years.
We also prepare an Annual Planning Report which provides advanced information to market participants and interested parties on NSW energy demand projections; emerging constraints in the NSW network; information on completed, committed and planned expansion, and proposed network developments over the next five years. This information allows the market to identify potential demand management solutions and allows us to apply the right network solutions.
We also prepare a Network Management Plan which outlines our approach to managing our existing network assets.
