An easement is a 'right of way' along the route of a transmission line. Easements vary in width depending on the operating voltage and design of the transmission line.

Easements are obtained for two main reasons. The first is so that our staff can construct, reconstruct, operate and maintain our lines. The second is to make sure the public are protected by controlling activities under or near the line that could create an unsafe situation.
