We invest in building sustainable working relationships with all our procurement partners.

Responsible procurement

Our suppliers play an essential role in helping us to deliver Australia’s clean energy future.

We invest in building sustainable working relationships with all our business partners, and focus on:

  • entering into agreements that deliver value for all parties
  • adhering to policies and processes that support effective operations
  • continually improving the user experience throughout the supply chain

Our Business Ethics Guide and Code of Ethics and Conduct outline the principles, standards and values that guide our decisions and behaviours. You must comply with these guidelines when working with us.

Modern slavery

New suppliers undergo a pre-qualification process to identify potential commercial, reputational, environmental and modern slavery risks. Existing suppliers also undergo periodic risk assessment and must demonstrate compliance to human rights and fair employment practices in accordance with international standards.

Our Modern Slavery Statement outlines the measures we take to manage and mitigate the risks of modern slavery across our operations.

Reconciliation Action Plan

Supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses through our supply chain is a key commitment of our Reconciliation Action Plan. As a proud member of Supply Nation since November 2018, we have partnered with a number of Indigenous suppliers, and this will continue to grow over time.

COVID-19 precautions

We have taken precautions to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, and ask you to be mindful of our approach to managing the pandemic.  Please adhere to our health and safety guidelines when visiting Transgrid sites.

The Environmental Policy

Transgrid is committed to conducting its activities and services in a manner that protects the environment, prevents pollution and meets compliance obligations. Transgrid implores all employees and contractors to stop and consider the potential impact to the environment from their activities. The Environment Policy covers all activities and services undertaken by Transgrid including the planning, building and operation of infrastructure, ongoing management of these assets and their decommissioning.

Anti-Discrimination, Harassment, Bullying and EEO

Transgrid aims to provide an environment where employees and others in the workplace are treated fairly and with respect, and are free from unlawful discrimination, harassment, vilification, bullying and victimisation.

This document describes the appropriate standards of behaviour, as per Transgrid’s Code of Ethics and Conduct and relevant legislation, expected of all employees, contractors and related persons whilst working at Transgrid.

Privacy Practices

We ask that our suppliers are committed to ensure their practices comply with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (the Privacy Act) and Principles, including the Transgrid’s NSW Transmission Operator’s Licence (Transmission Operator’s Licence) requirements. We ask that our suppliers have systems in place that comply with our standard conditions such as it relates to the management and storage of personal information.

We adopt a holistic approach to procurement, and consider a range of aspects including sustainability, performance, health and safety, and efficiencies when entering into supplier agreements.

The following conditions are in place for all our procurement partners:

  • You must adhere to our privacy policy, to the standards outlined in our Guide to Business Ethics, and to our Terms and Conditions (available in the resources section).
  • We conduct all procurement activities including sourcing, purchasing and invoicing through the SAP Ariba platform, branded at Transgrid as ibuy. You must register on the SAP Ariba Network before entering into a trading relationship with Transgrid. An SAP Ariba account is also necessary to take part in requests for information (RFI), requests for quotes (RFQ), requests for proposals (RFP) and requests for tenders (RFT). Registration is free for a standard account.
  • We supply purchase order (PO) numbers for all purchase agreements. Invoices will only be paid if the correct PO number is quoted on the tax invoice.
  • A contract may need to be established before Transgrid can purchase goods and/or services over a certain value or complexity.
