November Large Energy User Roundtable

Following on from the first TransGrid Consumer Advisory Workshop, on 13 November 2013 we held our initial Large Energy User Roundtable to kick start the conversation with NSW and the ACT's largest commercial power users.

Industry uses up to 75% of NSW and the ACT's energy, meaning they are an important voice in the discussion about the state's electricity future.

TransGrid invited high level delegates from some of the region's largest energy users. We received a lot of interest in this workshop and look forward to bringing other organisations into the conversation in the future.

To kick off the day TransGrid Chairman, Chum Darvall, discussed the changes TransGrid is making to adapt to the new energy market. This was followed by a full day of discussions led by TransGrid representatives. While the majority of the day was spent discussing the five year Business Plan and Revenue Proposal, there was also discussion around the Pricing Methodology Consultation Paper which was released 8 November 2013. Newgate Research assisted the flow of discussions by facilitating the Roundtable.

The objective of the day was to reach a shared understanding of the changing energy market and how it is reflected in our Revenue Proposal and Business Plan. Following on from discussions on the day TransGrid is:
  • Incorporating feedback into the Revenue Proposal
  • Considering submissions and feedback on our Pricing Methodology Consultation
  • Looking at the long term future of the network.
