September State wide Community Roundtables

In September 2013, TransGrid held four three hour community roundtables in Sydney CBD, Batemans Bay, Wollongong and Wagga Wagga which sought to develop a better understanding of community sentiment towards TransGrid’s business activities.

The purpose of the community engagement roundtables was to inform and educate attendees about TransGrid’s role and its statutory and policy requirements, while testing a renewed approach to engagement and consultation.

The roundtable outcomes demonstrated that the absence of information was the biggest source of concern for people - whether it be on development locations, health effects, property impacts or the justification for new infrastructure.

In response TransGrid now engages and consults with stakeholders much earlier in the project lifecycle by exploring community sentiment at each stage of its network investment consideration process – from the needs identification stage, to the implementation of a solution – and provides more comprehensive information to the community.
