TransGrid gives back to communities in Southern NSW

TransGrid has announced Yass and Tumut as the next regions set to benefit from its Community Partnerships Program, which aims to build positive and lasting relationships in local communities.

The final round of funding under the 2016 program will be rolled out across the Southern NSW Region today, inviting not-for- profit organisations in Yass and Tumut to apply for a grant to support their local community initiatives.

Now in its fifth year, the program run by the NSW transmission network operator has awarded more than $300,000 in grants to help deliver community initiatives across the state.

“Our Community Partnerships Program provides local community groups and organisations with the opportunity to apply for funding for initiatives that deliver lasting benefits to their local community,” TransGrid Community Engagement Specialist Melissa Maurer said.

“The program is part of our ongoing commitment to support community initiatives where our assets are located, being built, or upgraded.”

Funding applications will be accepted from not-for- profit community organisations located within the Tumut or Yass Valley Council areas.

Applicants must demonstrate how their initiative will provide a lasting or tangible benefit to the community and preference will be given to initiatives which improve or promote at least one of the following:
  •  Public safety or wellbeing
  •  Health or education
  •  The environment
Applications must be received by 5.00pm on Friday 18 November 2016.

This latest round of funding follows the program’s success in other areas across New South Wales earlier this year, including Taree, Coffs Harbour, Bathurst and Dapto.
