TransGrid's Taree 132 kV substation supplies Essential Energy's local electricity load in the Taree area at 66 kV and 33 kV. 

The substation was commissioned in 1958 and the majority of its original equipment remains in-service. As a result, TransGrid is proposing to replace the secondary systems and the 33 kV switchyard at the Taree substation due to the age and condition of the existing equipment.

  • Why is the project needed?

    ​The Taree substation was commissioned in 1958. Some of the original secondary systems equipment within the substation are approaching the end of their serviceable lives and are in need of replacement.​

  • When will the project start and finish?

    ​Work at the substation is expected to commence in September 2016 with completion scheduled for late 2018.​

  • What will be the construction hours?

    ​Noise generating works would be limited to the recommended standard hours for construction work outlined in the Interim Construction Noise Guideline (DECC, 2009) which are:

    • Monday to Friday 7:00am to 6:00pm.

    • Saturday 8:00am to 1:00pm.

    • No works on Sundays or Public Holidays.
