The Yanco substation was commissioned in 1955 and currently provides electricity to Essential Energy's Narrandera Zone Substation and several council operations.
Some of the original equipment within the substation is approaching the end of its serviceable lives. As a result TransGrid has undertaken work to replace this equipment.
The project is a major investment into the reliability of supply to the southern region of NSW and will ensure that the Yanco substation is maintained in a safe and serviceable condition.
The Yanco substation is located approximately eight kilometres south of Leeton, in the Riverina region of NSW, at the corner of Houghton Road and Hume Road, Yanco.
The Yanco Substation Rebuild project involved replacing several pieces of large equipment. The required work took place entirely within TransGrid's existing substation.
Works began on site in June 2014 with works completed at the end of 2015.
