Building the backbone of Australia’s energy system
Every day, millions of Australians rely on the electricity that flows through Transgrid’s transmission network. Spanning New South Wales and the ACT, our network plays a pivotal role in enhancing energy flow between Queensland, Victoriaand South Australia. Our infrastructure connects communities, industries and energy providers, supporting a grid that’s safe, reliable, affordable and ready for change.
Our network includes more than 11,500 kilometres of high-voltage transmission lines and 131 substations and switching stations. It plays a central role in energy trading between states, helping deliver cost-efficient generation to over three million homes and businesses. We work with partners across generation, data and industrial sectors to deliver solutions that respond to evolving needs.
Through Lumea, we’ve helped bring 15GW of renewable energy into the National Electricity Market. Lumea plays a key role in accelerating Australia’s energy and decarbonisation transition by partnering with renewable generators and large energy users such as data centres to connect them to the transmission grid. This includes building, owning, operating and maintaining critical energy and telecommunications infrastructure to keep customers connected and generating power reliably.
With billions of investment in the pipeline, Transgrid is delivering transmission projects that will support 100% instantaneous renewable energy and secure Australia’s energy future.
What we do is more than infrastructure. It’s about working together to build a grid that’s ready for tomorrow and works for everyone.
