Transgrid Group continues to advance the transformation of the energy system in NSW, investing in critical transmission infrastructure while connecting new renewable generation to the grid, supporting regional and First Nations communities, and protecting the environment, a new report demonstrates.

Australia’s largest transmission business has released its FY25 Annual Sustainability Report, highlighting its strong performance over the last financial year in accelerating delivery of the future grid in a sustainable manner for consumers, communities and the climate.
Transgrid’s Executive General Manager, Stakeholder and Corporate Affairs, Maryanne Graham said the report highlights the Transgrid Group’s $3-billion investment in essential transmission projects and connection of more than 2,300 MW of new solar and wind generation to the National Electricity Market.
“NSW has entered the deep transition phase as we work hard to increase the power coming from renewables from 40% to 90% over the next decade,” Ms Graham said.
“Now’s the time for collaboration and innovation to keep pace with the evolution our power system needs to deliver sustainable benefits for all Australians.
“As we accelerate the build-out of critical transmission infrastructure ahead of the closure of the ageing coal fleet, we are equally focused on ensuring we balance the need for cleaner, affordable electricity while achieving the Government’s net zero targets.
“We are also committed to delivering lasting legacies to regional communities and protecting valuable flora and fauna.”
Key highlights from the FY25 report include:
- $3-billion capital investment to support renewable connections and nation-critical transmission projects including EnergyConnect, HumeLink and VNI West
- 2,341 MWof energy generation added to the grid from battery energy storage systems and solar and wind farms across NSW and Victoria, helping meet growing demand while replacing retiring coal-fired power. This includes connecting the New England Solar Farm, one of the largest solar projects in the nation contributing up to 720 MW of capacity, supporting the integration of intermittent renewables and enhancing grid stability
- Fast-tracking procurement of synchronous condensers to keep the heartbeat of the power system strong and more readily accommodate new renewable energy generation
- Designing and installing Australia’s largest real-time grid monitoring system deployed for the Waratah Super Battery, enhancing system strength and operability in the Sydney, Wollongong and Newcastle load centres
- Investing in new tools and training for control room operators managing a dynamic, renewable-powered grid to ensure reliability and efficiencies for consumers, generators and large batteries
- 18,000 engagements with community members to prioritise local voices as we plan and deliver nation-critical transmission infrastructure to support the clean energy transition
- $564,234 in grants provided to not-for-profit organisations to support community facilities, services, events and activities that improve the lives of local residents
- $5.52 million invested in Indigenous businesses, reflecting our commitment to establish long-term partnerships that support employment and cultural opportunities for First Nations communities; and
- 11,700 hectares of privately-owned land preserved perpetually under Biodiversity Stewardship Agreements, protecting threatened species of flora and fauna.
Ms Graham said the report highlights the company’s broader commitment to social legacy, climate action and economic inclusion.
“Every stakeholder – from landowners and communities to consumers and governments, – is vital to achieving Australia’s renewable energy transition,” Ms Graham added.
“We are proud of the progress we have made but there is still a long way to go. This is the decade that will define our future.”
