Meaningful stakeholder engagement is at the heart of how we plan, build and operate the energy system. We actively listen to and work with a broad range of stakeholders to ensure our projects reflect diverse perspectives and deliver long-term value. This includes regular engagement with government agencies, regulators, industry groups, and commercial partners—as well as Indigenous communities, consumer advocates, researchers, suppliers, and investors. By building strong, respectful relationships, we’re able to make better decisions, respond to community needs, and help shape a cleaner, more reliable energy future for everyone.
Consumer Advisory Group
Established in March 2026, the Consumer Advisory Group (CAG) is Transgrid’s primary forum for consumer input on a range of key issues across the energy sector, including our regulatory proposals and energy policy positions.
Our engagement with the CAG supports decision-making that is shaped by consumer priorities, is transparent, evidence based and focused on the long-term interests of energy consumers across the National Electricity Market (NEM).
The CAG replaces the Transgrid Advisory Council (TAC), which operated from 2018 to 2026 as our principal stakeholder engagement forum.
Insights from the TAC helped inform our investment planning during a period of significant transition. We are grateful for the TAC’s contribution and have retained an archive of its materials for public reference.
Meeting program - 2026 Quarterly CAG sessions
- Monday 15 June 2026, 1.00pm – 4.00pm
- Tuesday 6 October 2026, 9.00am–12.00pm
- Wednesday 16 December 2026, 9.00am–12.00pm
Sub‑committees: RP4 Consumer Working Group
The RP4 Consumer Working Group (CWG) operates as a sub‑committee of the CAG, enabling deeper engagement with consumer representatives throughout the development of Transgrid’s FY29-FY33 Revenue Proposals (RP4). Facilitated by an independent Chair, the CWG works in parallel to Transgrid’s direct engagement with energy consumers on key issues relevant to the RP4 engagement program.

Directly connected customers
Our direct customers are mostly medium to large businesses that are connected directly to our high-voltage transmission network. This includes energy generators, major industrial users, and other network partners who rely on us to deliver safe, reliable electricity to power their operations.
To make sure we’re providing the best possible service, each of our direct customers is supported by a dedicated customer manager. This one-on-one approach helps us build strong, trusted relationships and ensures we’re always responsive to their needs.
We work closely with our directly connected customers to find smarter, more efficient ways of working together. This includes joint planning for future energy needs, coordinating maintenance schedules to minimise disruptions, and collaborating on industry-wide initiatives. We also support their projects and carry out hazard mitigation work to help keep people and infrastructure safe.
By staying connected and working in partnership, we’re helping our customers succeed—while supporting the delivery of safe, reliable electricity for all energy users.
