Program overview

An opportunity to experience a high voltage electrical trade. Applications for our next intake of Pre-Apprentices are opening soon.

This program includes two subjects that can be used as credit towards a Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician. This is a great way to get a head start on your apprenticeship as an electrical tradesperson and learn whether the industry is right for you, before committing to a full apprenticeship.

Learning modules include:

You will attend practical training and work experience alongside our skilled trainers, technicians and other pre-apprentice participants at our Transgrid depot. During this time, you will get a substation tour, power station tour, hand skills and wiring training and much more. You will be expected to complete online self-paced learning as well as face-to-face classroom studies.

You will be assigned to a group upon commencement. You will be expected to complete further online self-paced learning at home outside of the on site learning sessions. Please note that the following sessions and duration are subject to change. 

  • Week 1 - Group 1 & 2, 1 day on site learning 
  • Week 2 - Group 1 & 2, 5 days on site learning 
  • Week 3 - Group 1, 5 days on site learning 
  • Week 4 - Group 2, 5 days on site learning 
  • Week 5 - Group 1 & 2, 1 day on site learning and graduation dinner
