The award was presented at the at 7News Young Achiever Awards NSW & ACT gala dinner in Sydney.
“I was excited and very emotional as I wasn’t prepared to win and didn’t prepare a speech.
“I am so honoured and thankful to Transgrid, it has been a long year after moving from Hay to Sydney to do a double degree in education and visual arts, everything is happening so fast.
“It means a lot to me to win this award from the Hay community I will be back to Hay and see everyone again and thank them for their support,” Emma said.

“Transgrid is committed to nurturing young talent. We're inspired by the passion and drive of all these remarkable individuals, and we eagerly anticipate the positive impact they will continue to make in their communities.
“Emma embodies the leadership and community spirit this award recognises and on behalf of Transgrid I congratulate her for service to others and the difference she is making to the lives of other young people,” Maryanne said.
For her part Emma hopes the win will shine a light on the western Riverina.
“I hope that this award provides more recognition and awareness to the kids in Hay and the work they are doing in Hay and to never give up on their dreams,” Emma said.
