A community bus initiative to help disadvantaged people visit vital services in Sydney’s Inner West is among the numerous Community group projects across NSW to receive a share of $173,343 in funding.
30 June 2020
Transgrid’s Community Partnerships Program will distribute the money to 28 organisations, including one major sponsorship of $50,000 to the Ethnic Community Services Co-operative (ECSC), a community-based organisation focused on grass roots engagement with disadvantaged Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities.
“We are really pleased to make these donations to local groups across TransGrid’s network and we hope they make a difference to people living in the communities they serve,” said Executive Manager of Major Projects Sean McGoldrick.
“We received more than 40 submissions from organisations seeking support for services and activities in their communities and we are happy we can help make a difference for many of them,” he said.
ECSC CEO Shikha Chowdhary said the $50,000 donation will help the organisation to pay for a bus to transport disadvantaged people to vital support services in the Inner West area.
“Many people living in the Inner West area will use our bus service to get to important appointments and this will make a huge difference to them and we thank TransGrid for making it possible,” said Ms Chowdhary.
