Transgrid selected for NSW Government Telecommunications Panel

19 July 2018

Transgrid has been selected by the NSW Government as a member of the five-year Telecommunications Purchasing Arrangements (TPA) panel, with the telecommunications network provider set to offer an alternative network solution for New South Wales Government Agencies across the state.

  • Five-year Panel in effect from 1 July 2018 and represents a whole-of-government approach to buying landline, mobile, fixed data and internet services
  • Regional areas set to benefit from ‘Fibre in the Sky’ network
  • Panel appointment offers choice, competition and value for NSW Government Agencies with a focus in rural and regional areas

Transgrid’s Head of Telecommunications, Glenn Wood, declared the appointment a significant milestone for Transgrid and a vote of confidence in the company’s 4,000km ‘Fibre in the Sky’ network.

“We are delighted to have been selected as a TPA member and to assist in delivering the NSW Government’s digital strategy and believe it’s recognition of our work to provide greater choice, competition and value in the telco sector.

“Transgrid has dedicated itself to providing an extensive range of data and internet services across Metro and Regional NSW. We look forward to working within the TPA framework to deliver efficient and best price solutions for NSW government agencies,” said Mr Wood.

“Selection on the panel is also a vote of confidence in our 4,000Km ‘Fibre in the Sky’ Nokia Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) network, which provides transmission connectivity and an exceptional level of diversity and redundancy which can deliver greater speed and security for NSW government agencies.”

The five-year Telecommunications Purchasing Arrangements (TPAs) with eight initial suppliers came into effect on 1 July 2018 and represent a whole-of-government approach to buying landline, mobile, fixed data and internet services.
