Construction of Australia’s largest transmission project is progressing well, with the first group of workers moving into a 30ha purpose-built camp and the pouring of the first concrete foundations for steel towers at Buronga, near Mildura.

Transgrid has welcomed the NSW Government’s announcement of a third renewable energy zone (REZ), which will enable the connection of new and existing renewable generation to the grid in the state’s south-west, via the critical transmission project EnergyConnect.

The first big electrical kit for the nation’s largest transmission project has arrived in Australia by ship as construction of the $1.8 billion EnergyConnect interconnector powers ahead.

Transgrid has welcomed the NSW Government’s final environmental approval for the eastern section of the nation’s biggest transmission project EnergyConnect, as works in the western section accelerate.

EnergyConnect will invest millions of dollars with local suppliers and is currently awarding local procurement packages along its alignment in NSW from Wentworth to Wagga Wagga following the start of construction on the $1.8 billion interconnector.

A range of initiatives will be implemented to reduce the carbon footprint by 20 per cent across the 700km footprint of the nation’s largest energy infrastructure project EnergyConnect.
