Transgrid crews will be completing line works on the transmission line supplying Far West NSW this weekend.

Transgrid has opened applications for its 2026 Apprentice Program, offering school leavers, young and mature age career changers alike, the chance to develop hands-on skills and qualifications and play a key role in Australia’s energy transition.

Communities in Broken Hill and across Far West NSW are being supplied power by the reconstructed transmission line after specialist crews safely energised the new permanent section of the transmission line south of Broken Hill on the weekend.

Transgrid is deploying a helicopter to inspect the high-voltage electricity transmission lines across the network as part of its annual bushfire prevention program.

Specialist crews will switch over to a new permanent section of transmission line overnight on Friday (May 9) and Saturday (May 10), restoring the primary power supply for Far West NSW.
