Community grants now on offer across regional NSW

08 April 2025

Community groups and not-for-profit organisations across regional NSW are invited to apply for much-needed funding under the first round of Transgrid’s Community Partnerships Program for 2025.

Funding is available for local projects and initiatives in the Central Coast, Hunter, New England, Southern Highlands, Southern & Central Tablelands, Riverina, and Murray regions as well as parts of the outer southwest of Sydney.

Grants of up to $5,000 are available to support programs, services, events, equipment and facility upgrades that enhance the wellbeing of communities in regional NSW.

The Community Partnerships Program has provided a record $1.05 million to not-for-profit organisations across regional NSW over the past two years.

Transgrid Executive General Manager of Stakeholder, Regulatory, and Corporate Affairs, Maryanne Graham said: “Empowering local communities is at the heart of everything we do at Transgrid. Through our Community Partnerships Program, we aim to make a real and positive impact by supporting projects that create an enduring positive legacy across the communities we serve.

“Last year, 130 community groups received a total of more than $540,000 in funding for initiatives ranging from essential medical equipment to community well-being programs.

“We encourage community groups and not-for-profit organisations to take this opportunity to bring transformative projects to life. We encourage anyone thinking about applying to reach out to our team and we can also provide assistance in how to apply.”

Moulamein Preschool, which received a grant last year, used the funding to reduce start-up costs for their new day care service, helping to make childcare more affordable for local families.

Moulamein Preschool Business Manager Shantal Sherman said: “The grant is giving working parents more flexibility in supporting local children’s development, ensuring a strong foundation for the service’s future.

“We really appreciate Transgrid’s support, which has made a real difference to the families and community members here in Moulamein.”

Batlow RSL, which received a grant last year, used the funding to launch their cooking connections program designed to bring together members of the community to help them develop their cooking skills, promote nutritional eating and improve friendships and connections in the Batlow community.

Batlow RSL Organiser, Janet Doran said: “the grant is giving us the opportunity to launch this initiative that will be a social bridge for members and bring the community closer together

“Cooking is a vehicle with few impediments to participation. It is not too physically demanding and as such is an ideal way for anyone to get involved.

“We are incredibly grateful to Transgrid for making this possible.”
