Transgrid's Powering Sydney's Future PSF project has picked up two major awards at the 2022 NSW Project Management Achievement Awards in Sydney.

Transgrid has undertaken extensive 3D laser scanning, aerial imagery and helicopter inspections of 13,000km of transmission lines – equivalent to the distance from Sydney to Mexico City – to support bushfire safety in the lead up to summer.

Transgrid has welcomed the NSW Government’s announcement of a third renewable energy zone (REZ), which will enable the connection of new and existing renewable generation to the grid in the state’s south-west, via the critical transmission project EnergyConnect.

More renewable energy will now flow between Victoria, NSW and the ACT with the successful delivery of Transgrid’s upgrade of the Victoria-NSW Interconnector (VNI).

The first big electrical kit for the nation’s largest transmission project has arrived in Australia by ship as construction of the $1.8 billion EnergyConnect interconnector powers ahead.

The public is now able to access details of Transgrid’s annual safety performance and bushfire preparedness report on the organisation’s website. The reports provide general information about the performance of Transgrid’s Electricity Network Safety Management System (ENSMS).
