The Energy Charter is a positive, industry-led initiative to help energy businesses improve the value we provide to customers and energy consumers.
03 December 2019
Transgrid is proud to be a founding signatory of the Energy Charter and welcomes the Independent Accountability Panel's (IAP) report for 2019.
The IAP's assessment of TransGrid and the other 18 energy companies represents a commitment to industry accountability and a meaningful roadmap to guide the sector.
You can read the full report released 4 December 2019 on the Energy Charter website.
What does the IAP recommend?
The panel has identified six key themes:
- Know your customers and communities
- Go above and beyond compliance
- Leverage high-impact points for change together
- Develop metrics and report on progress
- Close the loop on initiatives
- Elevate and optimise dispute resolution
Transgrid is committed to reviewing the IAP recommendations and we are focused on what action can be taken to rebuild trust in the sector.
Our people are working hard to power NSW and the ACT, and we're developing plans to build a strong, sustainable National Energy Market.
We are working with businesses across the energy supply chain to improve the outcomes for all energy consumers.
We are also working with the federal and state governments to ensure safe, reliable and affordable energy through the delivery of new transmission projects.
You can read more about the Energy Charter and its principles on the Energy Charter website.
Disclosure statement 2019
Signatories are required to submit an annual disclosure statement on our performance against the principles of the Energy Charter to the Independent Accountability Panel.
TransGrid submitted its first annual disclosure statement in September 2019.
To develop this disclosure statement, we consulted with customers and stakeholders, and engaged with our board, executives and staff to present a full picture of our current performance against the Charter principles.
This disclosure document was the first step in our self-assessment and is part of a transformation process to develop a business wide culture which is focused on the best outcomes for consumers.
We welcome feedback on how we can improve the services we provide to consumers and how we present this information in future Energy Charter disclosure.
You can read our disclosure statement to the Energy Charter.
You can also read Transgrid's and other signatories' disclosure statements on the Energy Charter Panel.
