TransGrid has released its Transmission Annual Planning Report 2015 (TAPR). A core component of our planning process, the TAPR gives a yearly update on our direction and plans for the network.
This year’s TAPR provides information on energy and demand forecasts,
potential network developments and non-network alternatives, and
outlines the network capabilities and constraints expected over a10 year
The energy industry is changing. In recent years we have seen changes in
trends for energy consumption and maximum demand driven by the impact
of global economic conditions on major industry and consumer confidence,
consumer responses to government energy policies and electricity price
increases. We are also witnessing the emergence of new technologies such
as solar power, storage and smart meters across the energy landscape.
All of these can influence how our network will evolve into the future.
When read together with similar documents published by the three NSW
distributors (Ausgrid, Essential Energy and Endeavour Energy), ActewAGL
and the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), the TAPR provides a
meaningful picture of our network planning activities across NSW and the
